Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d) - remote GER

Role overview This position sits inside an SAP development team and owns technical quality assurance and test automation across the full software development lifecycle. The engineer develops comprehensive test strategies spanning automated and exploratory testing, UI, API, and integration layers, and applies a Shift-Left approach complemented by targeted Shift-Right practices such as observability and production monitoring.

Responsibilities - Design and own end-to-end test strategies covering automated, exploratory, UI, API, and integration testing, including Shift-Left and Shift-Right practices. - Develop, extend, and maintain automated tests and test automation frameworks for UI and API testing. - Work in technical test environments using console and developer tools, creating and manipulating technical and master test data and analyzing defects at a technical level. - Cover API and interface testing and support the full agile lifecycle from refinement through acceptance testing. - Build and maintain test repositories and test data, and run regular regression testing cycles. - Contribute to modern QA topics beyond functional testing, including a basic understanding of performance and security testing and concepts such as threat modeling. - Act as a quality ambassador by sharing best practices and continuously improving QA processes.

Requirements - Several years of experience in quality assurance, regression testing, or test automation within a software development environment. - Strong background in technical test automation using established UI and API automation frameworks. - Comfort working in technical test environments rather than only through the UI, including API and console-based testing. - Experience supporting agile teams across refinement, development, and acceptance testing, with the ability to challenge requirements on testability and completeness. - Working knowledge of performance and security testing concepts and modern approaches including AI-supported testing.
