Remote job
Senior Software Engineer | Remote | AI SaaS Software Role
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A fully remote senior engineering role focused on reshaping a SaaS platform into an AI-native product. The work sits at the intersection of traditional product engineering and agent-assisted development, where the engineer helps define how teams collaborate with AI rather than simply using AI to write code faster. Candidates are expected to operate with high autonomy, take ownership of ambiguous problems, and eventually mentor a small group of engineers.
Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve backend services using Scala, Play, Postgres, and AWS infrastructure - Design and ship scalable APIs and AI-assisted services end to end, from ideation through production - Build frontend features with React, Chakra, Storybook, and modern state-management libraries - Develop and maintain agent-driven development workflows using tools such as Claude Code and Codex, running multi-session coding in parallel - Create internal tooling, prompt libraries, and engineering systems that improve team velocity and code quality - Optimize performance across the frontend, backend, and AI-assisted pipelines, and shape best practices for AI-native software development
Requirements
- Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience - Strong backend experience with Scala, or comparable depth in Java, Ruby, or C# - Strong proficiency in JavaScript and React on the frontend - Track record building and scaling production SaaS products - Deep hands-on familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including multi-session and agent-driven workflows - Excellent written communication suited to an async-first, distributed team environment
Nice to have
- Functional programming background - Experience building internal developer tools or platforms - Familiarity with designing prompt systems or reusable AI workflows
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote within a UTC-6 to UTC+2 corridor - No-meeting Fridays, unlimited paid time off (typical usage 3–4 weeks), plus a company-wide week off in December - Generous health, dental, and vision coverage for U.S. employees and dependents - Equity for all full-time roles - Regular virtual social time and sponsored small-group in-person meetups, plus full company offsites
