Backend Engineer

Role overview This full-time remote role focuses on building and maintaining backend services, infrastructure, core microservices, data pipelines, and the observability platform for a data-intensive analytics product. The position produces production-grade code with a strong emphasis on performance, cost efficiency, documentation, testing, and APM metrics.

Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs, primarily using Python and FastAPI in a microservices architecture - Maintain and evolve core microservices, databases, and supporting platform components - Build, maintain, and improve data ingestion and crawling pipelines - Help keep the platform scalable, reliable, and maintainable as load and complexity grow - Contribute to shared platform building blocks, including infrastructure components, internal libraries, and engineering guidelines - Continuously improve existing systems through refactoring, technical debt reduction, and improved observability - Debug production issues and contribute to incident resolution when required

Requirements - 3+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Python backend development - Hands-on experience with API frameworks such as Django DRF, Flask, or FastAPI - Solid understanding of REST API design, software design patterns, and clean architecture concepts - Knowledge of system design and software architecture for production systems - Experience with major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerized environments, ideally Kubernetes in production - Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, observability practices, and event-oriented technologies like RabbitMQ or Kafka

Nice to have - Experience operating or contributing to data-intensive systems (ingestion, processing, storage, or search) - Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
