Role overview Senior technical leadership position focused on architecting and delivering scalable, high-performance Node-based SaaS applications within a data-intensive product area. The role combines hands-on engineering with architecture, mentorship, and close partnership with product management, balancing business objectives against performance, scalability, and reliability demands. It is fully remote within the US and sits within an AI-first engineering culture that expects active use of generative tools in the daily workflow.
Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, robust, and high-performance Node-based applications and own the architecture for components within an investment segment. - Ensure software solutions align with business objectives and meet performance, scalability, and reliability targets. - Partner with the Product Manager on product planning and business performance for one or more products, and identify process improvements and automation opportunities. - Translate stakeholder needs into well-scoped backlog items, and write clear user epics and stories with acceptance criteria, participating in grooming to keep documentation current. - Coordinate with architects to drive and land key technical decisions, while actively contributing as a senior member of the engineering team.
Requirements
- Eight to ten or more years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on data-intensive and scalable SaaS applications. - Expert-level experience with Node.js for application development and architecture. - Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field. - Track record of designing and developing data or software products end to end. - Deep expertise with databases, particularly MongoDB Atlas, and with designing and consuming REST APIs. - Hands-on exposure to cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices architecture. - Working knowledge of agile practices, with the ability to communicate across stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with React or other frontend scripting languages. - Java experience alongside Node. - Cloud platform experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus tooling such as Redis, Datadog, and Codefresh. - Working knowledge of data ETL. - Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Amazon CodeWhisperer, and comfort validating AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability. - Familiarity with LLM APIs, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, or AI observability tooling such as LangSmith and Weights & Biases. - Experience mentoring teams in adopting responsible AI practices, including bias detection, model safety, and governance.
