Remote job
Platform Engineering
Job details
About this role
Role overview Platform engineers here build and evolve the systems that sit in the critical path of global payments, billing, and financial workflows for usage-based software and AI products. The work spans distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, observability, and the application layer, with a strong focus on reliability, financial correctness, and developer leverage. You'll join a small, remote-first engineering team that prizes pragmatic abstractions over infrastructure for its own sake.
Responsibilities - Design and evolve systems that stay highly available, performant, and resilient as traffic grows, identifying bottlenecks and designing for graceful failure. - Improve cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and environments, introducing complexity only where it earns its place. - Strengthen observability, debugging, deployments, and incident response so engineers can ship confidently and recover quickly. - Build primitives, abstractions, and automation that reduce operational toil and let the broader engineering team move faster. - Translate financial and regulatory requirements into robust technical systems with auditability, access control, and data integrity built in from the start.
Requirements - Senior-level backend and systems engineering experience, including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and operating production systems at scale. - Strong SQL and data modeling depth, including relational database design, query optimization, and designing for data integrity and performance. - Pragmatic engineering judgement, with the ability to reason through complex trade-offs, anticipate failure modes, and move comfortably across infrastructure, backend, and application layers. - Product-minded thinking that balances speed, simplicity, and robustness when making engineering decisions. - End-to-end ownership mindset, from understanding the problem through shipping, operating, and improving the solution. - Security-minded approach that treats access control and auditability as first-class engineering considerations.
Nice to have - Experience with payments, billing, or financial infrastructure. - Open-source contributions and side projects.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first small team with a strong bias toward shipping and high engineering quality. - Stack: TypeScript (React, Effect) on the frontend, Python (FastAPI, Dramatiq) on the backend, with Postgres, Clickhouse, and AWS in the infrastructure layer.
