About this role

Role overview This is a senior architectural leadership position guiding the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise Azure cloud environments for a federal customer. The role centers on setting architectural standards, mentoring engineering teams, and shaping cloud strategy rather than hands-on implementation. It requires close collaboration with engineering staff, program leadership, and government stakeholders to deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant cloud solutions.

Responsibilities - Define enterprise Azure reference architectures, patterns, and standards covering compute, storage, networking, and identity services. - Establish architectural direction for Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and ARM templates, ensuring repeatable, auditable deployments. - Guide DevOps teams in building automated CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub, and Artifactory. - Lead architecture planning for migrating on-premises workloads to Azure and recommending cloud-native transformations using services such as AKS, App Service, Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Key Vault, and Azure Active Directory. - Define governance strategies including Azure Policy, RBAC, identity management, monitoring, and observability aligned with federal security and compliance requirements. - Serve as the technical authority for Azure architecture, communicating tradeoffs and roadmaps to government stakeholders and program leadership.

Requirements - U.S. citizenship and an active or previously held Public Trust clearance. - At least 6 years designing and implementing Azure cloud architectures, including identity, governance, hybrid connectivity, and monitoring. - At least 6 years working with Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform and ARM templates. - At least 6 years of DevOps experience with Azure, including pipeline development and deployment automation. - Demonstrated experience architecting CI/CD strategies using GitLab, GitHub, and Artifactory, plus containerization expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and AKS. - Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python, and strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have - Prior experience supporting U.S. federal cloud environments and compliance frameworks. - A track record leading cloud transformation initiatives in complex enterprise settings.
