Senior Software Engineer

Role overview Senior Software Engineer role on the billing platform team of a cloud application platform serving developers and DevOps teams. The position owns backend services that handle invoicing, usage reporting, taxes, and integrations with external commercial systems, partnering closely with Finance, Product, and Support.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain backend services and API integrations in Go that connect the platform to external billing systems. - Lead end-to-end delivery of usage-based billing features such as aggregation, estimates, usage alerts, and invoicing. - Shape the architecture of owned components, weighing trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term reliability. - Investigate complex issues across distributed services and external APIs, fixing root causes rather than symptoms. - Identify and close gaps in reliability, security, observability, and process within the billing domain. - Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance. - Apply security best practices to sensitive customer and payment data and contribute to anti-abuse measures.

Requirements - Deep professional backend development experience in Go within distributed systems. - Demonstrated success designing backend systems and making architecture decisions that hold up in production. - Strong experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB, including data modeling, migrations, and performance tuning. - Track record integrating third-party APIs where contracts, rate limits, and uptime are not fully under your control. - Familiarity with domains where correctness matters, such as billing or payments, including thorough testing of failure paths. - Solid understanding of common security vulnerabilities and their implications for payment and billing systems. - Clear asynchronous communication skills suited to a distributed, multicultural team.

Nice to have Experience with usage collection and aggregation, commercial billing platforms, or e-commerce systems.
