About this role
Role overview A senior frontend engineer is needed to lead development of a customized monitoring application serving defense and intelligence users worldwide. The work centers on a customer-facing product that surfaces near-real-time imagery and analytics insights on user-defined sites, layered on top of a large-scale satellite-derived dataset. The position blends hands-on engineering, architectural ownership, and mentorship across the frontend stack.
Responsibilities - Design and implement frontend features for a monitoring and analytics web application used by defense and intelligence customers - Build and maintain the application using React and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on frontend ownership - Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing - Contribute to backend services and APIs when needed to support end-to-end delivery - Drive architectural decisions covering component design, state management, and overall frontend patterns - Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into shipped solutions
Requirements - 10+ years of relevant experience developing production web applications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field - Proficiency with React and component-based architecture - Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript - Demonstrated ability to lead feature implementation from discovery through deployment - Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design - Experience with state management, data fetching patterns, and REST APIs - Professional working proficiency in English
Nice to have - Experience with monorepo tooling or large-scale frontend architectures - Familiarity with mapping libraries or data visualization tools - Experience with modern testing frameworks, CI/CD practices, and AI-assisted development tools - Background in geospatial technologies, remote sensing, or the defense and intelligence sector
