About this role
Role overview Staff-level engineer role leading the workflow and data context platform that powers large-scale data engineering, ML feature pipelines, model training, and business-critical metrics. The work centers on operating and modernizing an internal data control plane built on open-source foundations, with a mandate to evolve the platform toward an AI-native direction. This is a hands-on technical leadership position with significant cross-org influence and direct engagement with upstream open-source communities.
Responsibilities - Own the architecture and ongoing operation of the workflow platform and data context platform that underpin the broader data ecosystem. - Drive complex technical initiatives from architectural design through execution, partnering with engineering, data science, and ML stakeholders. - Strengthen reliability, performance, and scalability of the platform while shaping its long-term technical direction. - Lead the platform's evolution toward AI-native capabilities and contribute to relevant open-source communities. - Define standards and paved paths that make it easier for partner teams to build pipelines, train models, and produce governed data assets. - Mentor engineers and influence architecture decisions across multiple teams without relying on direct reporting lines.
Requirements - 10+ years of industry experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production distributed systems. - Demonstrated background designing and maintaining infrastructure platforms used by a wide engineering audience. - Proficiency in Python or Java for production systems. - Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architecture across teams. - Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a drive for technical excellence. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible within the US, with in-person collaboration expected roughly one to two times per quarter; relocation assistance is not provided. - Base salary range of $177,185–$364,795 USD, plus equity eligibility.
