Role overview

A senior web engineer is needed to help shape user-facing experiences on a large-scale consumer platform used by millions of people worldwide. The role focuses on building and shipping product features across desktop and mobile web, working closely with design, product, and backend partners from initial concept through launch and iteration. It is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to own significant projects end to end while influencing technical direction and product strategy.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and ship user-facing features for desktop and mobile web that reach a global audience. - Own projects across the full lifecycle, including prototyping, A/B testing, architectural design, implementation, and scaling. - Partner with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive, end-to-end functionality. - Propose new product ideas and use product judgment to shape the roadmap. - Apply automated testing and engineering best practices to produce reliable, maintainable code. - Mentor teammates, lead code reviews, and contribute to technical decision-making, while using AI tools thoughtfully to speed up prototyping, documentation, and synthesis with appropriate validation.

Requirements

- Strong knowledge of modern web development, including React and Redux, along with general best practices. - 5+ years of industry experience building consumer or business-facing web applications. - Demonstrated ability to write reliable, maintainable code intended for use by many other engineers. - Curiosity about emerging technologies and the judgment to evaluate which to adopt. - Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams. - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. - Practical experience using AI to improve speed and quality of work, with rigorous verification of AI-assisted output through testing, source-checking, and peer review.

Benefits and work setup

- Annual base salary range of $149,600 to $308,000 USD, plus eligibility for equity. Final compensation depends on location, experience, and skills. - Remote-eligible within the US, with an expectation of occasional in-person collaboration roughly one to two times per quarter. - Relocation assistance is not provided for this role. - Flexible work model and a culture emphasizing inclusion, with accommodations available during the hiring process for medical or religious needs.
