Remote job
Sr. Security Software Engineer, Security Operations
Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior engineering role on a Security Operations team focused on building and owning the foundational platforms that keep a large cloud environment safe and compliant. The position blends hands-on software and infrastructure engineering with architectural leadership, translating ambiguous security requirements into scalable controls, services, and paved paths across AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities - Own the architecture and technical direction of critical Security Operations systems, automation, and developer-facing security capabilities. - Design and ship reliable production services, infrastructure-as-code, and policy-as-code that govern cloud resources and software delivery workflows. - Build scalable guardrails and paved paths covering identity and access, infrastructure changes, cloud configuration, service hardening, and CI/CD security. - Improve how vulnerabilities are identified, prioritized, and remediated by integrating signal sources, automating triage, and clarifying ownership. - Lead complex cross-functional initiatives from problem framing and technical design through implementation, adoption, and operational maturity. - Set engineering standards and mentor partner teams, applying AI responsibly to accelerate analysis while maintaining validation and accountability practices.
Requirements - Track record designing, building, and operating complex production systems in security engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related discipline. - Deep experience with AWS security architecture, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code patterns, ideally in large-scale or multi-account environments. - Background in one or more of cloud governance, CI/CD security, vulnerability management, security automation, compliance platforms, or developer security tooling. - Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous technical initiatives, including architecture definition, tradeoff evaluation, and impact across multiple teams. - Strong software engineering judgment spanning system design, APIs, reliability, observability, testing, and safe operation of security-critical systems. - Ability to influence technical decisions, communicate complex risks clearly, and lift engineering effectiveness through design reviews and mentorship. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have - Experience defining or enforcing responsible-AI practices inside security or platform tooling. - Familiarity with building compliance-as-code or audit-ready evidence pipelines.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible position based anywhere in the country, with in-person collaboration expected roughly one to two times every six months. - Relocation assistance is not provided for this role. - US-based applicants only. - Base salary range of $155,584 to $320,320 USD, plus equity eligibility; final compensation varies with location, experience, and skills.
