Data Scientist III

Role overview

A senior data science role supporting lifecycle analytics for a U.S. Navy Maritime Electronic Warfare Systems program. The work spans cradle-to-grave support of critical Electromagnetic Warfare, Decoy, and Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) systems, integrating logistics, engineering, and operational data to drive readiness and sustainment decisions. The position blends applied data science with reliability and operations research to optimize warfighting capability, system availability, and lifecycle cost.

Responsibilities

- Build analytical pipelines that turn raw program and operational data into actionable insight for engineering, logistics, and program leadership. - Apply data mining, statistical analysis, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to large structured and unstructured datasets. - Design data models and algorithms that surface trends, anomalies, risks, and performance indicators across complex defense systems. - Create visualizations, dashboards, and dynamic reports that communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Fuse logistics, maintenance, reliability, and operational data to support lifecycle management and sustainment analysis. - Document and maintain repeatable analytical workflows that improve data quality, traceability, and accessibility. - Partner with logisticians, engineers, operations research analysts, and program staff to translate mission needs into analytical solutions. - Brief leadership through technical reports, analyses, and presentations that enable timely, data-driven decisions.

Requirements

- Active Secret security clearance. - Master's degree in a relevant discipline. - Minimum of 10 years of professional experience. - Demonstrated skill with data-oriented programming languages and analytical tooling for collection, processing, and interpretation of complex datasets. - Strong foundation in statistical analysis, modeling, and machine learning methods applied to real-world operational problems. - Ability to communicate technical findings to mixed audiences and collaborate across engineering, logistics, and program teams.

Nice to have

- Background supporting federal or Department of Defense programs, particularly in electronic warfare, surface warfare, or related mission areas. - Experience integrating reliability, maintainability, and logistics data with operational availability modeling. - Familiarity with NLP applied to program or maintenance documentation.
