Senior Engineer, Cloud Operations (Contract Position)

Role overview

As a Senior Engineer in Cloud Operations, you will design, operate, and improve highly available infrastructure supporting a large SaaS platform. The work spans multi-cloud systems, reliability engineering, observability, automation, performance, and operational maturity across distributed environments.

Responsibilities

- Build, document, operate, and optimize infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including multiple regions and availability zones. - Own and evolve cloud platform components, improving reliability, scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. - Manage and expand monitoring, alerting, logging, and other observability capabilities for large-scale systems. - Investigate incidents, performance constraints, usability issues, and operational bottlenecks, then develop durable solutions. - Replace manual or inconsistent workflows with automated, measurable, repeatable processes. - Collaborate across engineering teams, contribute to technical standards, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

- Approximately 5–7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, cloud operations, or a closely related discipline. - Demonstrated experience designing and operating automated cloud systems at scale across AWS and GCP. - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based container orchestration, such as EKS or GKE, and service mesh technologies. - Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, alerting, performance analysis, and centralized logging pipelines. - Experience with on-call operations, incident response, troubleshooting, and system administration. - Ability to understand systems end to end, work independently, manage ambiguity, and take ownership through completion.

Nice to have

- Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD practices, security-focused cloud engineering, or telephony infrastructure. - Familiarity with improving engineering processes from ad hoc practices to documented and repeatable operating models.
