Data Engineer - US Remote

Role overview

Join a small, early-stage data platform team and help build the pipelines and models that unify data across a product portfolio. This is a US-remote position partnering with a staff data engineer and a platform engineer, offering meaningful ownership from day one while still having room to learn. The work spans extending established pipelines and designing new ones from scratch, so the day-to-day variety is part of the appeal.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain ingestion pipelines pulling from production source systems - Write transformation models that turn raw data into trustworthy, usable datasets - Apply dimensional and medallion modeling patterns as the warehouse takes shape - Deploy pipelines to production with proper testing, including idempotency and data quality checks - Contribute to data model and schema design, and participate in design reviews - Document owned pipelines, including runbooks that help the rest of the team operate them

Requirements

- Professional experience building data pipelines, with production ownership of at least some of them - Strong SQL skills plus a working knowledge of a programming language such as Python or Go - Hands-on experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework - Familiarity with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift - Practical ELT and orchestration experience using tools like Fivetran or Airflow - Working AWS knowledge covering object storage, access basics, and enough networking to reason about how data moves - A testing instinct aimed at data quality, not only at code correctness

Nice to have

- Change-data-capture experience - Comfort with SQL Server as a source - Background in healthcare or another regulated data environment - Exposure to a BI or semantic layer
