Role overview
Help build and evolve a financial software product serving small businesses and accounting professionals. This senior full-stack position spans Ruby backend development and React with TypeScript on the frontend, combining product thinking, technical delivery, production ownership, and mentorship within a cross-functional squad.
Responsibilities
- Understand user and product needs and translate them into simple, pragmatic solutions across the application stack. - Lead significant initiatives from problem framing and architecture through coding, testing, deployment, and production operation. - Develop and improve backend and frontend functionality using Ruby, React, and TypeScript. - Diagnose complex production problems through monitoring, observability, and data analysis, while preventing recurrence. - Identify and deliver improvements to performance, scalability, reliability, and engineering quality. - Support other engineers through code reviews, pair programming, documentation, technical proposals, knowledge sharing, and clear cross-team communication.
Requirements
- Senior-level full-stack engineering experience with Ruby on the backend and React/TypeScript on the frontend. - Strong expertise in at least one major part of the stack, together with the adaptability to become productive in a new team quickly. - Experience taking high-impact technical work from discovery and design through production delivery and ongoing operation. - Ability to reason about system robustness, performance, scalability, and reliability. - Practical experience investigating production incidents using observability and data-driven debugging. - Clear communication skills and a willingness to mentor peers and improve shared engineering practices.
