Responsibilities
- Frame user and product problems with the squad and help shape practical, valuable solutions. - Lead substantial backend deliveries from technical discovery and design through implementation, testing, release, and operation. - Investigate complex production incidents using monitoring, observability, and data analysis, then address root causes. - Design and evolve services with attention to performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. - Improve engineering practices through code reviews, pair programming, documentation, technical proposals, and responsible use of AI-assisted development. - Mentor engineers, share knowledge, provide actionable feedback, and coordinate effectively with other teams on dependencies and risks.
Requirements
- Senior-level software engineering experience with strong Ruby on Rails expertise. - Ability to take ownership of a high-impact initiative, become autonomous quickly, and carry work through to production. - Experience designing robust systems and identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, or scalability. - Strong debugging and production-operations skills, including use of monitoring, observability, and data to diagnose issues. - Ability to communicate technical decisions, progress, risks, and results clearly across engineering and product stakeholders. - A collaborative approach to mentoring, reviewing code, and raising the quality of team execution.
