Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead the engineering organization responsible for systems that issue and move digital assets. You’ll set technical direction, grow teams and managers, and guide architecture for high-stakes financial infrastructure, staying close to difficult design and reliability decisions without serving as the day-to-day production coder.
Responsibilities - Own the technical strategy, roadmap, and delivery plan, balancing timely releases with the reliability and controls expected in regulated institutional services. - Review architecture and designs, challenge assumptions, and guide decisions involving asset custody, ledgers, settlement, and blockchain integrations as the team’s scope requires. - Hire and develop senior engineers and engineering managers, strengthen leadership depth, and establish a culture of ownership and strong technical practice. - Set expectations for on-call operations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-through to reduce operational risk. - Work with product, security, compliance, and other partners to build systems with security and audit controls incorporated into their design. - Break ambiguous challenges into deliverable stages, communicate priorities and trade-offs to executives, and improve engineering practices with modern tools, including AI.
Requirements - Extensive software engineering experience and a substantial record leading teams, including through managers; the source describes a typical profile of 12+ years in engineering and 8+ years in leadership. - Experience building teams and systems from an early stage and scaling them as an organization grows. - A record of building and operating complex distributed systems where correctness, security, and availability matter. - Technical depth in several areas such as distributed systems, blockchain infrastructure, key management, high-availability services, or security-sensitive financial software. - Credibility with senior engineers and the ability to engage deeply on architecture and operational trade-offs. - Comfort making progress with incomplete requirements and partnering effectively with product, security, and compliance functions.
Nice to have Experience in both startup and scaled environments, regulated financial services, blockchain protocols, or smart contracts.
