Remote job
Quantum Error Correction Engineer - W/M
Job details
About this role
Role overview Develop and evaluate quantum error-correction methods that support fault-tolerant computation on neutral-atom hardware. The work connects theory, numerical simulation, experimental data, and hardware architecture: selecting suitable codes, measuring performance under realistic noise, and informing the design of logical operations and future processor layouts.
Responsibilities - Select, adapt, and benchmark error-correcting codes and protocols for neutral-atom hardware constraints. - Develop and assess decoding methods using realistic noise models. - Build and maintain logical error models and budgets tied to physical noise, experimental results, and internal emulators. - Contribute to the design and benchmarking of fault-tolerant logical operations and gate strategies. - Provide error-correction input on processor layout, connectivity, zoning, and operation scheduling. - Develop simulation tools and communicate findings through technical reports, scientific writing, and conference participation.
Requirements - A PhD or equivalent experience in quantum error correction or a closely relevant area. - Understanding of quantum error-correcting codes, decoding methods, and fault-tolerant protocols. - Interest in neutral-atom platforms and ability to account for practical hardware constraints. - Strong scientific programming skills, such as Python, including data analysis and simulation workflows. - Autonomy, rigor, and ability to work across theory, simulation, and experimental constraints. - Strong collaboration and communication skills, including written and spoken English.
Nice to have - Experience planning and delivering small technical projects.
Benefits and work setup - Permanent employment contract and a flexible balance of in-person work. - Time to pursue training and attend conferences or meetups. - Work with an international, multidisciplinary team.
