Staff Product Engineer

Role overview

A senior individual-contributor role embedded directly inside strategic enterprise customers, building the custom software that lets AI-powered agents operate reliably in production. The work spans both multi-year account engagements where the engineer deepens integrations over time, and short experimental builds that test new capabilities against real customer environments. Success is measured by the quality, security, and impact of what is delivered on each engagement, not by managing a team.

Responsibilities

- Lead the most complex customer engagements, owning architecture decisions that span the core platform and multiple parts of the customer's organization. - Build the integrations and capabilities the platform does not yet provide, including systems-of-record connectors, telephony and contact-center integrations, state management, data readiness, multi-agent orchestration, and retrieval. - Own production quality and compliance for enterprise-scale traffic, including evaluations, observability, incident playbooks, PII handling, access control, and audit trails, and debug live issues whether they are technical or model-behavior related. - Drive account growth by unlocking additional use cases and business units while flagging reusable work for inclusion in the platform. - Mentor other engineers, contribute to interviewing and hiring, and set the standard for how AI-assisted work is validated before it reaches a customer's production traffic. - Represent the company in technical conversations with principal engineers, architects, and security leaders, including pre-sales engagements with prospective customers.

Requirements

- Senior, hands-on engineering experience writing and reviewing code weekly as an individual contributor; this is not a people-management role. - Strong background building production systems for large enterprise customers in regulated or high-stakes environments such as financial services, telecom, insurance, travel, or retail. - Comfort making architecture decisions across multiple workstreams and owning delivery end to end on ambiguous, hard problems. - Proficiency with the relevant modern stack, including Go, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, FastAPI, and similar languages and frameworks, plus experience with frontend development. - Ability to work alongside a non-engineering counterpart who defines customer success, with the engineer owning the technical build and architecture.

Nice to have

- Experience designing and validating AI-assisted engineering workflows before they ship to customer-facing traffic. - Familiarity with evals, retrieval pipelines, and agent orchestration patterns in production. - Prior experience representing engineering in senior customer or prospect-facing technical conversations.
