Remote job
Senior Product Engineer — Platform & Enterprise
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A small, distributed, engineering-led team is hiring a senior product engineer to carry forward customer-facing product decisions while continuing to write code. The position splits roughly evenly between direct contribution to the core workspace and product ownership, technical review, and frontline problem solving. It is intentionally a senior individual-contributor role rather than a premature head-of title, reporting to the founder and partnering closely with operations, engineering, and support.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve the core workspace across the interface, application logic, and the data paths behind it - Translate ambiguous customer and company needs into a coherent sequence of product decisions with explicit tradeoffs and a high quality bar - Review consequential work, sharpen plans before code is written, and coach less experienced engineers on stronger product judgement - Work directly with customers and support on onboarding, access, reliability, and deployment constraints, then convert recurring needs into durable product capabilities - Join important conversations where technical context matters, diagnose what is actually blocking progress, and carry the answer back through delivery - Keep the product plan honest, surface risk early, and close the space between verbal commitments and shipped results
Requirements
- Senior product engineering experience with meaningful ownership of product decisions, not only implementation of others' specifications - Strong full-stack judgement that can move from a dense interface to the data path behind it and locate where a problem actually belongs - Demonstrated hands-on leadership that raises the quality of plans and reviews while continuing to ship substantial work - Clear cross-domain communication with users, operators, and engineers without losing important context between them - Comfort with enterprise delivery, where onboarding, access, reliability, support, and product design become one system - Based in the United States or Canada, with meaningful overlap for domestic customer and partner work
Nice to have
- Experience making a dense interface (inbox, table, editor, timeline, or operational workspace) feel fast and considered at scale - A track record leading an enterprise rollout where product, support process, and technical constraints all had to move together - Mentorship of an early-career engineer into stronger ownership without taking the work away from them - Experience working through a live migration or reliability problem while protecting the customer experience - Ability to walk through a product you materially shaped and explain both the technical decisions and the choices deliberately not made
Benefits and work setup
- Fully remote, distributed team that ships continuously and uses AI tooling heavily, with work driven from problems rather than complete specifications - Roughly 50% direct contribution and 50% product ownership, review, technical leadership, and frontline problem solving, with the split shifting week to week - Compensation combines competitive cash with meaningful equity, with expectations aligned early rather than carried through a long process - Short, real-work-centered interview process: founder conversation, product walkthrough, paid scoped working session, and a final conversation on working style and compensation - No unpaid take-homes or surprise algorithm rounds
