Remote job
Technical Product Manager
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is the first dedicated product management role on a small, founder-led team where every product decision still carries weight. The position sits between customer conversations, engineering tradeoffs, and release decisions, helping turn scattered inputs into a clear, evidence-backed sequence of bets. It suits someone who enjoys working in ambiguity and shaping the playbook as they go.
Responsibilities - Lead discovery by joining customer conversations, observing real workflows, and separating recurring problems from one-off requests - Set and prioritize a short, honest product roadmap, writing each bet as a clear problem, outcome, constraints, and tradeoffs - Work daily with engineers and design support on flows, edge cases, acceptance criteria, and release scope, making timely calls when new information shifts the plan - Track adoption and support signals after launch, follow up with customers, and decide whether to iterate, simplify, or stop - Translate customer and commercial commitments into a realistic plan the founder and operations can rely on
Requirements - Proven track record of owning a product area on a small team, with evidence of what changed for users as a result - Skill at running useful customer discovery without treating every ask as a roadmap commitment - Comfort with technical products, dense workflows, and discussions about constraints, quality, and sequencing - Clear writing, visible tradeoffs, and the ability to decide with incomplete information - Located in the United States or Canada with overlap to team and customer working hours
Nice to have - Experience helping a founder-led product move from intuition to an evidence-backed sequence of bets - Background shipping operational workspaces where speed, trust, and edge cases mattered as much as the happy path - History supporting early enterprise deals without turning each one into custom product work - An example where customer feedback led to removing or simplifying work rather than adding features
Benefits and work setup - Small, distributed team with direct access to the people using the product - Reports to the founder, working closely with engineering and operations - Compensation combines cash and meaningful equity, aligned early in the process - Interview process includes a founder conversation, a walkthrough of a past product decision with customer evidence, a paid scoped working session, and a final conversation on mandate and compensation
