About this role

Role overview A staff-level technical lead is being recruited to stand up and guide a new engineering team building a multi-property content management system. The platform will support publishing across consumer, blog, and business digital surfaces, with an initial commerce-aligned focus. The role is remote within the United States and calls for someone comfortable shaping architecture, delivery practices, and stakeholder alignment in a still-forming environment.

Responsibilities - Lead a greenfield engineering initiative to build a CMS platform that serves multiple business teams and publishing channels. - Define the technical direction and architectural decisions for a scalable, maintainable, and reliable content platform. - Partner with product management and cross-functional stakeholders to understand content workflows, governance requirements, and long-term platform opportunities. - Establish engineering practices for system design, delivery quality, observability, and operational excellence. - Contribute directly to code, design reviews, and key implementation decisions across front-end and back-end systems. - Balance short-term delivery against longer-term platform investment while the team and roadmap take shape.

Requirements - 8+ years of engineering experience, including leadership of large projects and delivery planning. - Hands-on experience with content management systems, covering selection, implementation, integration, or evolution in multi-team settings. - Familiarity with agentic coding and emerging AI development technologies. - Strong full-stack technical proficiency across front-end and back-end codebases. - Experience designing and operating systems on a modern cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Solid software engineering fundamentals including APIs, integrations, data flows, security, and reliability. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences. - Comfort operating in an ambiguous environment where team boundaries and roadmap are still forming.

Nice to have - Experience building or supporting multi-site, multi-channel, or headless CMS architectures. - Background partnering with marketing, content, or digital teams on publishing workflows and content operations. - Experience in e-commerce, growth, or customer-facing web platforms. - Familiarity with modern web architecture, experimentation, personalization, SEO, and content performance considerations.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role based in the U.S. - Competitive salary and equity packages. - Health, dental, and vision insurance plus mental health resources. - Product discount for employees, friends, and family. - 20 days paid time off, 13 paid holidays, and 8 flexible wellness days. - Paid sick leave and parental leave. - Market-based pay across three U.S. region tiers, with ranges approximately $169,150–$233,000 depending on location.
