Role overview
A platform engineering role supporting an internal offensive-security platform used by penetration testers, red teamers, and researchers at an independent security firm. The work centers on building production-grade systems that encode operator knowledge into reliable software, sitting at the intersection of distributed systems, data pipelines, and security tooling.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the platform that internal offensive-security operators and researchers rely on day to day. - Develop distributed systems, data pipelines, and backend services that scale to real workloads. - Prioritize reliability and correctness, since customers trust the platform with their security. - Work shoulder-to-shoulder with operators and researchers to translate their expertise into encoded, reusable capability. - Iterate on the platform based on field feedback and emerging offensive techniques.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background in a modern stack such as Go, Python, TypeScript, or Rust, with production systems behind you. - Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, or backend services at scale. - Bias for correctness and clarity over cleverness in design and implementation. - Genuine curiosity about security; the offensive side can be learned on the job, but interest is required. - Ability to collaborate closely with non-engineering specialists (researchers, operators).
Nice to have
- Background in security engineering or work adjacent to offensive tooling. - Depth in cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code. - Prior experience building a platform that other practitioners depended on.
