Role overview
Lead the technical direction of a growing product as a hands-on engineering contributor. You will work closely with the CTO to shape architecture, make important technology decisions, solve complex web-application challenges, and help establish the foundations of an effective engineering team. The role is initially focused primarily on individual contribution, with potential to develop into a broader leadership position.
Responsibilities
- Design and build complex product capabilities and the underlying technical architecture. - Make pragmatic decisions about tooling, vendors, and when to build versus buy. - Contribute substantially to production code during the first 6–12 months. - Partner with the CTO on technology strategy and the engineering roadmap. - Help source and interview future engineering hires. - Communicate engineering progress, technical decisions, and team culture through written updates.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. - Experience architecting, designing, and delivering complex web applications. - Background as a senior, staff, or principal engineer, or equivalent technical scope. - Strong judgment around technology choices, tooling, and vendor management. - A clear, practical point of view on engineering practices and technical direction. - Willingness to remain deeply hands-on while contributing to team development.
