About this role
Role overview Build and evolve Android features for a digital marketplace used by buyers and sellers. The role covers the full feature lifecycle, from product and design discussions through release and follow-up, with ownership of app quality and operational health. AI tools are part of the daily development workflow, alongside careful engineering review and testing.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and ship Android features across buyer and seller experiences. - Help guide Android architecture, including module boundaries, modern and legacy UI integration, authentication, feature flags, and analytics. - Improve automated testing and continuous integration, and support app distribution and release practices. - Monitor production health through crash reporting, analytics, and release signals; follow through on reliability issues. - Use AI tools for coding, refactoring, tests, debugging, and documentation, verifying outputs before adoption. - Work with product, design, backend, platform, QA, and iOS colleagues; mentor intermediate engineers and align mobile behavior across platforms.
Requirements - At least five years of professional Android development experience, or equivalent depth. - Proficiency in Kotlin and experience shipping Android applications through the Play Store. - Experience owning complex features and cross-cutting mobile concerns. - Knowledge of production app architecture, concurrency, networking, performance, and offline or edge cases. - Familiarity with CI/CD, code review, testing, and production observability. - Daily use of AI development tools, with the ability to assess their output critically. - A computer science or related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have - Production experience with Jetpack Compose, multi-module apps, coroutines, dependency injection, and Android persistence or networking libraries. - Experience modernizing legacy Android interfaces or reactive code, marketplace or transactional apps, device-based UI testing, or hybrid WebView surfaces. - Mentoring experience or familiarity reviewing iOS code.
