About this role
Role overview Develop Android features for a digital marketplace serving both sellers and buyers. AI tools are part of the daily development workflow, with engineers expected to check their output carefully.
Responsibilities - Implement and ship Android features in collaboration with product and design partners. - Build Compose interfaces with clear state and event handling, working with legacy XML views when needed. - Write unit tests and meet team quality checks for formatting, coverage, and continuous integration. - Apply AI-assisted coding, testing, and debugging, then verify proposed changes before review or merge. - Learn shared platform capabilities such as authentication, analytics, and feature flags with senior guidance. - Coordinate with iOS colleagues to keep customer-facing product behavior consistent across platforms.
Requirements - At least 3 years of professional Android development or equivalent depth of experience. - Proficiency in Kotlin and experience shipping at least one production Android application. - Familiarity with modern Android UI development and willingness to work in a codebase during a migration. - Comfort with tests, code review, and continuous integration, plus a desire to take increasing ownership of features. - Active use of AI development tools and the ability to evaluate their output critically. - A computer science or related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have - Production experience with Jetpack Compose, Hilt, Room, WorkManager, or CameraX. - Familiarity with coroutines, ViewModels, StateFlow-style UI state, REST APIs, and local persistence. - Experience with marketplace or e-commerce apps, mobile analytics, feature flags, or hybrid WebView surfaces. - Exposure to UI or instrumentation testing.
Benefits and work setup - Annual salary range: $90,000–$125,000 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience. - Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement contributions, paid leave, disability and life insurance, an employee assistance program, and tuition reimbursement. Some benefits vary by country.
