About this role
Role overview Lead an infrastructure engineering organization responsible for the platforms behind customer facing services, spanning data centers, cloud environments, server fleets, Kubernetes, networks, storage, observability, and security. The role combines people leadership and operational accountability with technical direction, budget ownership, and planning for infrastructure growth and modernization.
Responsibilities - Lead and develop a distributed team of about 12 engineers, build team leads, and strengthen reliability and operational practices. - Set technical direction across infrastructure domains and provide platform services to network operations teams. - Own capital and operating budgets, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and cost optimization while protecting service reliability. - Work with product and engineering partners to plan infrastructure needs, including service levels, performance, scalability, and capacity. - Establish security standards with security and compliance partners; oversee patching, operating system upgrades, and audit readiness. - Define roadmaps and communicate investment plans to executives; own the 24/7 escalation model and support acquisition integrations.
Requirements - 10+ years in infrastructure engineering or operations, including at least 5 years leading teams; experience through team leads or managers is relevant. - Strong technical fluency in Linux, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, data centers, networking, storage, observability, and network security. - Experience owning budgets, vendors, and contract negotiations. - Ability to communicate technical plans to executives and partner across engineering, product, security, and operations.
Nice to have - Experience leading a merger integration, organizational consolidation, or other major structural change. - Background in telecom, VoIP, or other high availability service environments; measurable infrastructure cost savings.
