Remote job
Software Engineer II, Solutions Engineering
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a mid-level engineering role on a Solutions Engineering team that partners with commercial and product stakeholders to understand customer challenges and translate them into technical solutions. The work centers on designing, building, and shipping internal tooling and integrations that eliminate repetitive manual work across file processing, migrations, eligibility and billing edge cases, and other operational friction points. It is a customer-adjacent, delivery-focused engineering position that pairs hands-on coding with close collaboration alongside more senior engineers and system owners.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and ship home-grown and integrated tooling that removes toil, owning enhancements and moderate-complexity features within automations and integrations. - Partner with commercial, product, and engineering stakeholders to scope and deliver solutions, and contribute to root-cause investigations tied to escalations and customer implementations. - Extend and reuse existing team templates, standards, and automation rather than defaulting to one-off customizations. - Use AI-assisted development and modern automation in day-to-day work to deliver more quickly while keeping quality and maintainability in focus. - Pair with senior engineers to grow proficiency across the team's varied stack and treat feedback on scope, design, and code quality as a core part of the craft. - Participate in an on-call rotation, triaging and addressing issues that come up supporting end users and assisting internal teams in their investigations.
Requirements - 3–5 years writing readable, tested, and efficient production code, ideally in Ruby on Rails; strong backend engineers from other stacks who can ramp quickly are also welcome. - Experience with a relational database such as PostgreSQL and with building and consuming APIs and integrations across service boundaries. - Hands-on fluency with AI coding assistants and a thoughtful point of view on where they help and where they don't. - Experience with workflow-automation platforms (e.g., Tines, n8n, or similar) and building API-driven automation workflows. - Solid debugging and optimization skills, a strong grasp of SDLC processes, and the judgment to know when to consult the engineers who own a system. - Communication skills sufficient to translate between business needs and technical reality, with a track record of shipping measurable improvements to well-defined problems.
Nice to have - Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React or Vue. - Background in healthcare or another regulated, data-sensitive domain. - Exposure to a solutions engineering, implementation, or other customer-facing technical environment through internships, rotations, or project work.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first, work-from-home culture with flexible time off. - Competitive base salary plus a generous annual cash bonus, equity grants, and an employee stock purchasing plan. - Health, dental, and vision insurance with above-market employer contributions, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, and a Lifestyle Spending Account. - Generous parental leave and mental health support resources.
