About this role
Role overview A licensed Electrical Engineer position on a Federal Engineering & Design team, contributing to the evaluation, design, and documentation of electrical systems for federal clients including military, government, and mission-critical facilities. The engineer works independently on standard techniques while applying judgment to adapt designs, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver code-compliant, constructible solutions within project scope, schedule, and budget.
Responsibilities - Perform electrical engineering duties covering evaluation, design, and documentation for small to large-scale federal projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related building systems. - Apply standard electrical engineering techniques to develop constructible, code-compliant designs and propose minor adaptations for project-specific needs. - Prepare electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates in line with applicable codes, federal standards, and agency requirements. - Coordinate electrical design elements with other engineering disciplines and internal teams, and support project managers on scope, schedule, and budgets. - Participate in design reviews, value engineering conferences, and coordination with federal clients, contractors, and consultants. - Maintain project information and documentation within the firm's project management and quality management systems. - Diagnose and help resolve technical design issues, support QA/QC, and mentor less experienced engineers as assigned. - Travel to project sites in varying terrain and weather conditions during different stages of construction.
Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. - Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. - Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across project teams and stakeholders. - Solid problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills. - Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, federal standards, and regulatory requirements. - Advanced mathematical and analytical abilities applied to electrical engineering design. - Working knowledge of design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Nice to have - Prior experience on federal, military, or mission-critical facility projects. - Experience mentoring junior engineers or technical staff.
