Job details
About this role
Role overview Own backend development for the customer journey from first website visit through registration, lesson booking, and account use. The work is primarily Python services and APIs, with some Node.js maintenance and enough React and TypeScript to deliver frontend changes when needed. The team measures how visitors become leads and bookings, and uses experiments to guide product changes.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and support Python services and APIs for registration, booking, and visitor accounts. - Maintain server-side integrations with advertising platforms, including reliable event delivery, deduplication, retries, and monitoring. - Track attribution across the visitor journey, preserve campaign parameters, and investigate gaps in conversion data. - Improve service performance and reliability through caching, query optimization, and production debugging; investigate issues in the Node.js/Express rendering layer as needed. - Diagnose production incidents using error tracking and logs, and follow issues through to resolution. - Support server-side experiments with feature flags, staged rollouts, and cleanup; deliver React and TypeScript changes when a feature requires them.
Requirements - At least five years of production backend development in Python, including designing, shipping, and supporting services. - Strong experience with API design, relational databases and SQL, caching, background jobs, and third-party integrations; understand authentication, rate limits, retries, and idempotency. - Able to investigate production problems using logs and error tracking and identify root causes. - Comfortable reading and modifying Node.js and Express services. - Working knowledge of React and TypeScript sufficient to deliver features end to end. - Understand how tracking data moves from an ad click to reporting, and can investigate where it is lost. - Product-focused approach to metrics and hypotheses, and fluent English.
Nice to have - Experience with server-side conversion tracking, such as conversion APIs or server-side tag management. - Experience querying BigQuery, working with CDN or edge caching, or handling GDPR and consent mechanisms. - End-to-end testing experience with Playwright or Cypress.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote work and unlimited holidays.
