Job details
About this role
Role overview A remote-friendly marketing intelligence company is hiring a Data Scientist to join a newly formed applied measurement team. The role partners directly with eCommerce brand customers to translate marketing measurement questions into data science problems spanning attribution, incrementality testing, Marketing Mix Modeling, and predictive modeling. It is a customer-facing, applied position that blends statistical rigor with hands-on client collaboration.
Responsibilities - Collaborate with customer-facing and internal stakeholders to frame high-stakes marketing measurement questions and convert them into well-defined data science problems. - Audit and prepare real customer data to confirm it is reliable, representative, and fit for purpose across attribution and incrementality models. - Run experiments, interpret results, and diagnose anomalies that could stem from data quality, modeling assumptions, or pipeline behavior. - Communicate statistical concepts, modeling trade-offs, and experiment outcomes clearly to non-technical audiences and client stakeholders. - Pair with senior data scientists on harder methodological work and partner cross-functionally with media strategy, customer success, product, and engineering teams. - Build reusable diagnostics, analysis tooling, and scalable measurement workflows, with room to grow into new methodology and production capability development.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering; a Master's is preferred. - At least two years of experience building and shipping data science, machine learning, or AI systems in production, ideally with direct client or customer-facing work. - Solid grounding in statistics, machine learning, experimentation, and causal inference, paired with the ability to explain these methods to non-technical stakeholders. - Strong coding ability and debugging instincts across data sources, model code, pipelines, and downstream outputs at production quality. - Service-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for hands-on customer problem solving rather than purely methodological work. - Comfort operating autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment, driving projects from concept through production.
Nice to have - Robust statistical background combined with prior experience in digital marketing or eCommerce analytics.
Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $130,000–$160,000 USD, with variation based on experience, skills, and location. - Equity package, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a 401(k) plan. - Flexible paid time off, 12 company-paid holidays, and 12 weeks of paid parental leave. - $500 work-from-home stipend to support a remote setup, with physical offices available in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
