About this role
Role overview Set the technical direction for a suite of tools that supports carbon credit projects, from project and carbon data management to audit evidence and registry submissions. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will shape the architecture and roadmap, build and guide a senior engineering team, and ensure the systems can withstand external scrutiny.
Responsibilities - Define the multi-year roadmap across project management, carbon accounting, and audit capabilities. - Design verification systems that combine evidence pipelines, geospatial data, and machine learning-assisted checks into submission-ready records. - Hire, mentor, and develop a small, experienced engineering team while setting engineering standards. - Establish security, reliability, and data governance practices suitable for regulatory and audit review. - Work with carbon specialists to translate methodologies into software, and explain the technology to external stakeholders such as registries, buyers, and investors.
Requirements - More than 10 years building production software, including at least four years leading engineers. - Strong experience with data-intensive or machine learning systems, and sound judgment about where precision and rigor are essential. - A record of delivering platforms subject to regulatory, audit, or financial scrutiny. - Architecture skills paired with a willingness to review code and uphold correctness and data provenance. - Excellent written communication for collaboration across distributed, multi-time-zone teams.
Nice to have - Familiarity with carbon markets, measurement, reporting and verification, geospatial systems, or climate technology. - Experience in a founding or early-stage environment, including comfort working through ambiguity.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time leadership role with hybrid or remote work options. - Competitive compensation with equity.
