Manager, Data Engineering

Role overview A people-and-project leadership role overseeing a small team of data and software engineers building and scaling a modern data platform for content delivery, analytics, reporting, and operational systems. The position sits at the intersection of technical depth and team development, reporting into the head of data engineering. The work spans pipeline design, stakeholder collaboration, and ongoing mentorship of engineers across multiple levels.

Responsibilities - Lead a team of three to five engineers in delivering against the data product roadmap. - Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, observable, and secure data pipelines and warehouse layers using Python, SQL, Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, and Kafka. - Run agile rituals including sprint planning, estimation, standups, and retrospectives. - Partner with Analytics, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to scope and prioritize data solutions. - Champion operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues. - Enforce engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and documentation. - Coach engineers on technical execution, communication, and career growth while removing delivery bottlenecks. - Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and the evolution of the team's operating model.

Requirements - 6+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 1 to 2 years of team leadership. - Hands-on expertise with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, Airbyte, RudderStack, and Kafka. - Strong Python and SQL skills plus solid grounding in data modeling (3NF, dimensional, or data vault). - Track record delivering robust, observable, and scalable data pipelines. - Familiarity with Agile delivery models and cross-functional collaboration. - Clear, action-oriented communication style.

Nice to have - Experience ingesting and processing third-party data sources such as CRMs, analytics platforms, ad systems, or social media APIs. - Exposure to data monetization, external data product delivery, or geospatial datasets. - History of building inclusive, high-performing team cultures.
