About this role
Role overview
This role focuses on turning raw operational and product data into trusted, well-documented datasets that support reporting, self-service analysis, and strategic decision-making. You will work within a data engineering function to develop scalable transformation models, semantic definitions, and business intelligence views while improving data quality, discoverability, governance, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain modular, production-ready data models using dimensional modeling practices and clearly defined business logic. - Develop semantic-layer definitions and BI datasets that give analysts and decision-makers consistent, reusable metrics. - Apply automated testing, lineage tracking, monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization to improve pipeline reliability. - Convert fragmented queries and recurring analyst requests into standardized, documented data products. - Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand changing processes, metrics, and data needs. - Strengthen governance, access controls, documentation, and single-source-of-truth definitions across the analytics environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or a related discipline. - Three to five years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data science. - Experience building, testing, documenting, and maintaining production data transformation workflows and semantic models. - Practical knowledge of star-schema or Kimball-style dimensional modeling and tools for defining and communicating metric logic. - Strong SQL skills plus experience with dbt, Snowflake, Python, Git, and modern BI or visualization platforms. - Experience working with CRM, marketing, advertising, social, web analytics, product usage, and semi-structured data such as JSON.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with semantic metrics, modern data-stack architecture, CI/CD, data governance, and additional modeling approaches such as Data Vault or 3NF. - Experience supporting self-service analytics and collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
Benefits and work setup
- Flexible work arrangement combining remote work and office work where available; interviews are conducted remotely. - Full-time salaried position with competitive compensation, paid health, dental, vision, and supplemental coverage, flexible paid time off, home-office support, paid parental leave, and an employer-matched retirement plan. - Employment is limited to individuals authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. Relocation assistance is not provided.
