3D Game Environment Artist
Job details
About this role
Role overview Join the Metaverse Cell team as a freelance 3D Game Environment Artist crafting stylized worlds for a sports-themed title on a family-focused, motion-driven active play platform. The project uses an anime-inspired art direction and ships within strict mobile performance budgets, so visual flair must coexist with runtime efficiency on constrained hardware.
Responsibilities - Build 3D environments from blockout through final in-engine polish, including architecture, props, and set dressing. - Translate anime aesthetics into compelling scenes through modeling, texturing, lighting, and composition. - Implement and optimize assets inside Unity, keeping draw counts, polycounts, and texture memory within mobile budgets. - Collaborate with the Art Director, concept, and tech art teammates to maintain a consistent stylized look across the project. - Iterate on scenes for lower-spec hardware, using efficient asset creation and performance-conscious workflows.
Requirements - Solid grasp of the full 3D environment art pipeline, from blockout to final in-engine integration. - Hands-on Unity experience shipping real-time scenes. - Familiarity with mobile platform optimization and efficient asset construction. - Strong sense of anime-inspired or stylized art direction, including shape language, color, lighting, and composition. - A plus: experience shipping mobile games, passion for anime styling, or interest in sports-themed interactive experiences.
Nice to have - Background in sports games or interactive sports experiences. - Experience tailoring visuals for low-power devices.
Benefits and work setup - Freelance or contractor engagement, fully remote or onsite in Hong Kong, with a preference for UTC+6 to UTC+10. - Flexible hours and a product-driven culture that invests in individual growth. - Hands-on exposure to cutting-edge work in the motion-gaming space.
