About this role
Role overview A field-based technical support role focused on keeping client IT environments reliable and secure through on-site visits and remote troubleshooting. The position centers on resolving technology issues across Windows systems, Microsoft cloud services, networks, and virtual infrastructure while partnering with service delivery teams to maintain service commitments.
Responsibilities
- Travel to client locations for hands-on technical support, complemented by remote assistance via phone, email, ticketing, and remote management tools. - Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows desktops and servers, applications, Microsoft 365 services, Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID. - Diagnose issues across IP networks, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, virtual environments, and backup or restoration workflows. - Perform preventive maintenance including operating system updates, security configuration, patching, and system or network upgrades. - Manage support tickets, projects, and follow-ups in a professional services automation platform; document environments and work performed while recording time accurately. - Identify recurring issues, recommend proactive improvements, and collaborate on long-term solutions; participate in team stand-ups, technical meetings, training, and an on-call rotation outside normal business hours.
Requirements
- Associate degree or 3–5 years of equivalent technical experience, plus at least one relevant industry certification or equivalent practical experience. - Hands-on troubleshooting ability with Microsoft Windows desktops and servers, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Intune. - Solid understanding of IP networking including switching, routing, wireless connectivity, and firewalls; able to diagnose hardware and software issues both remotely and on-site. - Strong customer communication, documentation, independent problem-solving, and teamwork skills. - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent client-site travel; ability to lift equipment up to 70 pounds and access elevated or confined equipment areas.
Nice to have
- Experience in a managed services provider or high-volume, multi-client IT support environment. - Familiarity with Apple macOS devices and mixed-platform environments. - Experience supporting virtualized systems, cloud infrastructure, and backup/recovery workflows. - Knowledge of ITIL service management practices and proactive managed services tooling.
Benefits and work setup
- Hourly compensation of $28.85–$31.25, equivalent to approximately $60,000–$65,000 annually. - Hybrid work setup combining a home workspace with frequent local driving and occasional air travel, evening, weekend, or overnight work. - Schedules generally between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with reasonable accommodations available to enable qualified individuals to perform essential job functions. - Optional law-enforcement-related projects may require additional training and screening under applicable CJIS requirements; participation is voluntary.
