Role overview
Provide technical leadership for a platform foundations team responsible for shared services that other engineering groups depend on. The role owns architecture and technical execution for identity, authentication, authorization, tenancy, secrets management, and related platform capabilities while partnering with engineering management and product leadership on delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and evolution of the platform authorization service that governs access across the product. - Set technical direction for identity, single sign-on, access control, secrets management, and other shared platform services. - Lead delivery of core foundations capabilities such as login, authorization, and tenancy through general availability. - Make the team’s primary technical decisions and define API contracts consumed by other engineering groups. - Guide engineers through day-to-day technical work, mentoring, design discussions, and implementation decisions without relying on formal management authority. - Establish expectations for code review, testing, documentation, and alignment between technical plans and product priorities.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software development experience, including technical ownership of a platform or infrastructure domain. - At least 3 years in a B2B software startup or high-growth environment. - Direct experience designing or operating authentication and authorization systems, such as OAuth, SSO, or role-based access control. - Backend development experience with Python and Go. - Experience designing APIs used by other engineering teams. - Strong Linux and distributed-systems fundamentals, plus a record of making sound technical decisions amid ambiguity.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration. - Background in network management or infrastructure software. - Open-source contributions or involvement in open-source projects. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
