About this role
Role overview Build and operate the cloud platform behind globally distributed networking services, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance. The role connects infrastructure, networking, and backend engineering, while also improving the tools that help engineers deliver changes safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities - Design and run cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code for distributed management and relay services. - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for backend and client software. - Improve service reliability through metrics, logs, and tracing; take part in incident response and drive practical follow-up improvements. - Work with backend and networking engineers to improve routing, connectivity, and system performance. - Create internal tools and automation that improve developer workflows and support an open source ecosystem.
Requirements - At least five years in platform engineering, site reliability, or DevOps roles. - Experience operating production systems on AWS, GCP, or a similar cloud platform. - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi. - Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. - Solid understanding of IP networking, routing, NAT, and DNS. - Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry, and production incident response. - Ownership of problems from detection through resolution and prevention, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
Nice to have - Familiarity with WireGuard, VPNs, peer-to-peer networking, or NAT traversal methods such as STUN, TURN, and ICE. - Experience operating globally distributed systems with low-latency needs. - Knowledge of gRPC, REST services, or security practices for networked systems. - Open source contributions or developer community support experience. - Experience tuning infrastructure costs and performance at scale.
Benefits and work setup - Hybrid work, with a Berlin office and remote flexibility. - Competitive base compensation and equity incentives. - A collaborative team, substantial independence, and opportunities for growth.
