Senior System Engineer

Role overview

The Senior System Engineer will own the architecture and system design that underpins a fleet management platform supporting non-emergency medical transport and adjacent operations. The role centers on modeling telematics, routing, and backend systems through diagrams, requirements, and scalable patterns so the infrastructure can grow while remaining reliable for fleets that depend on it daily. It is a remote, full-time position on the software team.

Responsibilities

- Design system architecture and technical specifications for new features and services - Create detailed diagrams (such as C4, sequence, and ERD) to communicate system design - Define data models, API contracts, and integration patterns across services - Collaborate closely with developers to ensure implementations match architectural intent - Document system requirements, constraints, and trade-offs for technical decisions

Requirements

- 7+ years of experience in system design or software architecture - Strong proficiency in producing technical diagrams and architectural documentation - Deep understanding of distributed systems, databases, and API design - Experience modeling complex business domains and operational workflows - Excellent written communication skills for technical documentation and decision records

Nice to have

- Background in logistics, transportation, or fleet management systems - Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time systems - Familiarity with compliance requirements such as HIPAA or SOC 2 - Previous work defining architecture for SaaS or multi-tenant platforms
