Remote job
PCB Layout Engineer — High-Speed Embedded Hardware
Job details
About this role
Role overview Own PCB layout for a custom AI and IoT edge hardware platform, executing the physical board design from approved schematics through fabrication release. The position focuses entirely on layout craft: placement, stackup, high-speed routing, power and ground strategy, and manufacturing handoff, working on dense, high-speed embedded boards that pair application processors with memory, camera interfaces, power supplies, wireless modules, and automotive-style I/O.
Responsibilities - Drive PCB layout end-to-end, from early component placement through routing, design review, fabrication release, and assembly handoff - Translate schematics, datasheets, hardware design guides, and constraint documents into physical design decisions - Plan PCB stackup, layer assignments, impedance targets, via strategy, spacing rules, and length-matching constraints - Perform dense BGA fanout for SoCs, PMICs, LPDDR, eMMC or UFS, wireless modules, and high-speed connectors - Route high-speed interfaces including LPDDR, eMMC or UFS, MIPI CSI, USB, PCIe or SATA, SDIO, clocks, and related differential pairs - Place and route power components such as PMICs, DC/DC converters, LDOs, load switches, and decoupling networks, and optimize planes for low impedance, return paths, EMI, and manufacturability
Requirements - Strong, hands-on experience laying out dense, high-speed embedded boards with application processors, memory, camera interfaces, power supplies, wireless modules, and automotive-style I/O - Demonstrated skill with controlled-impedance DDR or LPDDR layout, including length matching, skew control, reference-plane continuity, and clean return paths - Comfort working from schematics and datasheets rather than owning schematic capture - Familiarity with high-speed interface routing (MIPI CSI, USB, PCIe or SATA, SDIO) and differential pair practices - Ability to plan stackups, impedance targets, via strategy, and spacing rules for a multi-layer board - Experience producing manufacturing outputs and supporting fabrication and assembly handoff
Benefits and work setup - Remote, full-time hardware role on the layout team
