Role overview This hands-on software engineering role focuses on building an Internal Developer Portal from a strong existing base of pipelines, internal tools, and documented procedures. The work involves turning scattered internal capability into coherent, self-service golden paths that other engineering teams actually want to use. Success is measured by developer adoption, so judgment about what to redesign versus what to leave alone matters as much as raw engineering skill.
Responsibilities - Contribute to the portal platform implementation and help operate it as a real product with users, adoption metrics, and a roadmap. - Build a trustworthy service catalog with ownership, relationships, and automated ingestion from source-of-truth systems. - Develop integrations that connect the portal to cloud accounts, CI/CD systems, secrets management, and internal APIs. - Shape and build within the golden path framework, using templates, scaffolding, standards, and guardrails that bake in networking, security, observability, and compliance. - Support other teams in building their own golden paths through examples, documentation, pairing, and code review. - Help make the platform readable by AI coding agents through structured metadata and documented interfaces. - Drive adoption by proving paths against real workflows, supporting onboarding, and prioritizing measured friction over preference.
Requirements - 5+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE, including shared services consumed by multiple teams. - Solid experience with AWS (IAM, multi-account, EKS), Terraform, and Kubernetes, plus reusable CI/CD pipelines. - Strong programming ability in at least one modern language, with production software engineering discipline including testing, review, and operations. - Experience building or extending an internal developer portal, developer platform, or comparable self-service tooling, or closely transferable automation experience with clear motivation to take this on. - A track record of turning scattered internal capability into coherent, self-service products. - Application development experience with TypeScript and React, or equivalent experience in another modern language and framework.
