Software Engineer III, iOS - Cal AI

Role overview Build and improve native iOS features for a nutrition tracking experience that uses meal scanning, suggestions, and personalized insights. You’ll partner with design and product engineering to turn user needs into polished, reliable app experiences, while contributing technical guidance and mentoring teammates.

Responsibilities - Implement native iOS interfaces in collaboration with design, following platform interface guidelines. - Deliver features and refinements independently, translating broad product ideas into clear, usable solutions. - Improve the app’s usability and performance by evaluating its interface, local data storage, and network communication. - Research and apply technical approaches that support product goals and a growing user base. - Promote sound practices for design, testing, security, and release work. - Collaborate across product and engineering, and coach teammates to strengthen the team’s delivery.

Requirements - At least four years of relevant professional experience. - Experience building iOS applications in Swift within an Agile development environment. - Ability to write testable code and unit tests, and experience with multithreaded programming. - Familiarity with REST APIs, relational databases, Git collaboration, and at least one package manager. - Some experience with continuous integration and delivery. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with interest in mentoring junior developers.

Nice to have - Experience modernizing a large legacy codebase. - Familiarity with reactive programming frameworks such as RxSwift or Combine, or with SwiftUI.
