Staff Operations Engineer

Role overview A senior Staff Operations Engineer leads the design, reliability, and evolution of hybrid-cloud and workplace infrastructure that connects data centers, office environments, and public cloud. The role blends hands-on technical execution with cross-team leadership, shaping architecture and setting direction for systems that must remain scalable, secure, and efficient.

Responsibilities - Own and evolve architecture within a defined infrastructure domain, contributing to medium- and long-term technical strategy - Lead ambiguous, high-impact infrastructure projects including migrations, re-architectures, and performance or reliability improvements - Collaborate across IT, SRE, security, and service-owner teams to unify solutions and ensure clean integration across office, data center, and cloud environments - Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLI/SLO definition, capacity planning, and incident root cause analysis - Build and promote automation, infrastructure-as-code practices, and internal tooling that reduce operational toil - Mentor engineers, guide system design, and maintain clear documentation, diagrams, and runbooks for owned systems

Requirements - 6+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure roles with production-environment ownership - Strong background designing and operating hybrid infrastructure spanning data centers and cloud - Solid hands-on knowledge of VMware, Cisco UCS, application and network load balancers, and Linux/Unix operating systems - Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls - Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives and influence architecture decisions

Nice to have - Infrastructure-as-code experience with tools such as Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform - Proficiency in Python or comparable scripting languages - Familiarity with observability tooling, containerization platforms, and modern reliability practices
