Analytics Engineer Toronto (Remote)

Role overview A mid-level Analytics Engineer role embedded within a Business Intelligence team, focused on turning available data into reliable insights for marketers and business stakeholders. The position acts as a bridge between stakeholders and the data layer, translating reporting needs into well-defined metrics and surfacing those definitions across systems. The work is remote and based in Toronto, with a focus on dbt-based modeling and Tableau visualization rather than raw pipeline ingestion.

Responsibilities - Build and maintain dbt models from the business vault layer through to the data mart in Redshift, following established standards and best practices. - Extend existing mart models by adding fields, refining calculations, and building net-new Kimball-style datasets from business vault sources when no new ingestion is needed. - Develop and maintain AI-ready datasets structured and documented for consumption by internal AI and machine learning systems. - Keep the data dictionary in OpenMetadata current, including definitions, lineage, and field-level documentation. - Partner with business stakeholders to define the right metrics for reporting and translate ambiguous questions into agreed-upon definitions. - Build Tableau dashboards and reports that surface data mart outputs while keeping calculation logic in the data layer.

Requirements - 4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, or a similar role. - Hands-on production experience writing dbt models, tests, and documentation. - Strong SQL skills in a cloud data warehouse context, with Redshift experience considered a plus. - Familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts including facts, dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions. - Experience delivering analysis or dashboards to business stakeholders, not just building pipelines. - Proficiency with a BI tool, Tableau preferred, and comfort working across multiple data sources. - Comfort with Git-based workflows including branching, pull requests, and code review.
