About this role
Role overview
This senior, founding-engineer-level position shapes an AI-enabled payments product that lets people initiate transactions through AI without exposing their underlying credentials. The scope includes new product capabilities, ecosystem integrations, and the end-to-end user journey, with ownership from ambiguous problem definition through production iteration and growth. The engineer will work closely with senior technical leadership and a small, focused product team, moving wherever the highest-impact problem sits.
Responsibilities
- Own substantial product areas end to end, including problem identification, technical direction, implementation, release, and continuous improvement. - Advance a recently launched product through additional 0→1 development and growth, balancing ambitious capabilities with production reliability. - Build payment and peer-to-peer transfer experiences designed for AI interfaces, alongside integrations with AI platforms, applications, and external services. - Develop the infrastructure and onboarding experiences needed to connect new applications and integrations with the product. - Partner with product specialists to turn complex ideas into simple, usable experiences, paying particular attention to onboarding and user friction. - Work across the technical stack as priorities change, reason from first principles, and use AI tools extensively while retaining independent technical judgment.
Requirements
- Demonstrated staff-level or equivalent experience owning ambiguous, high-impact software areas through production. - A track record of taking new products or major capabilities from concept to launch and subsequent iteration. - Strong experience building APIs, integrations, or infrastructure across multiple platforms and applications. - Ability to make pragmatic decisions without complete information and to move fluidly between architecture, implementation, and detailed product work. - A product-minded approach to simplifying complex workflows, including onboarding and user experience. - Proficiency with contemporary AI development tools and a practice of using them to increase speed and output without sacrificing reasoning or quality.
Benefits and work setup
- Compensation includes a competitive salary, employee equity, and pay-for-performance equity bonuses. - Working arrangements support fully remote and hybrid work, with home-office and remote-work allowances, commuter support, and lunch credit on office days. - Benefits include flexible time off, birthday leave, enhanced parental leave, employer pension contributions, and private healthcare coverage. - Professional development support includes an annual $1,000 training budget, structured mentorship, stretch opportunities, and regular company offsites and hackathons. - Additional offerings include a wellness membership, enterprise access to current AI tools, a monthly product budget, and zero-fee crypto transactions. Location-specific cycle-to-work and electric-vehicle schemes are available in applicable regions.
