About this role

Role overview A lead analytics engineer role within a borrowing-focused data team at a digital bank, responsible for shaping foundational data platforms and helping the business scale into new markets. The position blends hands-on data modelling with strategic architecture leadership across financial, transactional, and regulatory data domains.

Responsibilities - Act as a data architect for the borrowing domain, designing scalable data models that measure product performance and support business growth. - Build robust data models in BigQuery, downstream of backend services, to power internal reporting, machine learning, language models, and financial or regulatory use cases. - Define and uphold data warehouse best practices, including source payload design, logical data modelling, implementation, metadata, and testing standards. - Partner with analytics and engineering teams across the organisation to share knowledge, raise standards, and continuously improve data practices. - Prioritise data governance work, safeguarding integrity and compliance across the borrowing data estate. - Champion central platform initiatives that elevate data quality and architecture standards across multiple product domains.

Requirements - Deep passion for data modelling, ETL, and large-scale data work. - Hands-on experience working with financial, transactional, or operational data streams. - Strong SQL and data modelling skills, with confidence in core data warehousing concepts. - Track record of building reliable, controlled data sets in production environments. - Experience shaping technical roadmaps for a full data domain and delivering against project plans. - Excellent cross-functional communication with engineers, product managers, analysts, and senior technical leaders.

Nice to have - Strategic perspective on credit products and how underlying data unlocks customer value. - Experience shaping ambiguous data domains and gaining buy-in from senior stakeholders. - Enthusiasm for mentoring analytics engineers, data scientists, and credit analysts by sharing expertise.

Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of £97,800 to £125,000 plus benefits. - Relocation and visa sponsorship support available for candidates moving to the UK. - Location options include London-based, Cardiff-based, or fully remote within the UK with occasional in-person meetings. - Flexible working hours with autonomy over scheduling. - Annual learning budget of £1,000 for books, training courses, and conferences.
