Role overview A digital banking platform is hiring a Lead Data Scientist to shape analytics strategy across consumer financial products and drive experimentation-led product development. The role sits at the intersection of data science, product, engineering, and design, with influence over how decisions are measured across the organization. Team placement (covering areas such as lending, growth, payments, financial crime, wealth, or core banking) is finalized after the interview process based on skills and preferences.
Responsibilities - Define and evolve the data strategy that supports millions of customers using everyday banking, savings, investing, and credit products - Establish and roll out best-in-class experimentation practices so teams can make faster, evidence-based decisions - Set standards for analytics work, share knowledge across the data community, and raise the quality of insights produced - Partner with senior product, engineering, design, and research leaders to scope, prototype, and iterate on new features - Mentor data scientists and analytics engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally
Requirements - Significant experience leading data science work on commercial consumer products in fast-moving, cross-functional teams - Strategic mindset for translating customer and business questions into measurement frameworks and analyses - Deep interest in experimentation, causal inference, and applying modern data techniques to ambiguous problems - Track record of working with product and engineering partners to ship data-informed changes - Strong opinions about how to define and measure success, with the willingness to challenge existing approaches - Enthusiasm for building foundational data understanding for new products and features
Nice to have - Background in fintech, banking, or other regulated consumer environments - Experience mentoring or managing other data scientists
