Experience Designer - Future Contract Opportunities

Role overview

Join a pool of experience design contractors for project opportunities expected to arise as client needs develop. There is no active project attached to this posting; if a suitable engagement becomes available, the work may involve shaping digital products and services through research, strategy, design, workshops, and prototyping. Project timing, duration, scope, and hours will depend on the engagement.

Responsibilities

- Work with people from different disciplines to define digital product and service concepts. - Help plan, conduct, and interpret research that informs product interactions and visual direction, including interviews, usability evaluations, concept validation, and testing. - Plan collaborative workshops and work sessions, and facilitate portions of them as appropriate. - Create experience design materials such as user archetypes, customer journeys, service blueprints, ecosystem maps, and prototypes. - Take ownership of a design specialty and help carry the project vision forward.

Requirements

- Experience in one or more of design research, digital strategy, digital product design, or service design. - A portfolio or work history showing the ability to understand complex business problems and develop solutions that balance original thinking with practical needs. - A relevant undergraduate or graduate degree in design, human factors, or engineering, or equivalent professional experience. - Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain design decisions and intent to colleagues and clients. - Independent judgment and willingness to question approaches, processes, and strategy when doing so can better serve the work.

- Contractor opportunities are project-based, with variable timing, duration, scope, and hours. - Anticipated hourly rates are $84–$127, depending on the project, expertise, and experience; the applicable rate would be discussed for a specific opportunity.
