Role overview
An engineering manager opportunity to lead the team building the foundational depository account platform for a fintech that is preparing to launch its own bank. The team owns the core services that let customers hold funds and move money between their own accounts, so success means infrastructure that operates reliably, securely, and quietly at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 4 to 8 senior engineers delivering high-availability banking services - Translate company and product direction into clear, measurable team objectives and execution plans - Establish a predictable delivery cadence that makes progress, risks, and tradeoffs visible - Balance customer-facing improvements with platform reliability, operational readiness, and long-term maintainability - Partner with Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to keep banking products dependable, understandable, and useful - Hire and onboard engineers while maintaining a consistent, high-quality interview process - Hold the team accountable for responsible use of AI-assisted development, including testing, evaluation, review, and production safeguards - Give clear, actionable feedback and create an environment where engineers can grow technically and as leaders
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading a technical engineering team - Background building or operating reliable financial, banking, payments, or other high-integrity systems - Comfort working across product, policy, infrastructure, and operational boundaries - Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear decisions, owners, and plans - Strong technical judgment with willingness to engage deeply in system design and implementation - Experience developing senior engineers and creating opportunities for them to lead - A care for correctness, reliability, customer experience, and operational excellence
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Haskell and TypeScript, or genuine interest in learning the stack

- Total compensation includes base salary, equity (stock options or RSUs), and benefits, with ranges benchmarked against the SaaS and fintech industry and updated regularly - US range: $200,700–$250,900 USD; Canadian range: $189,700–$237,100 CAD - Offers factor in experience, expertise, location, and internal pay equity relative to peers - Open to candidates based anywhere in the US or Canada
