Backend engineer

Role overview Own the server-side foundations of client products: APIs, data models, auth boundaries, background jobs, and the unglamorous reliability work that keeps production calm. The role suits an engineer who values durable contracts with frontend and mobile teams, hates silent failures, and treats migrations, observability, and documentation as core deliverables rather than afterthoughts.

Responsibilities - Design and ship APIs, services, and data models for production applications. - Own database migrations, background jobs, and operational readiness of the services you build. - Partner with frontend and mobile engineers to define durable, well-documented API contracts. - Improve observability, performance, and failure handling across backend systems. - Document systems so client teams can operate and maintain them confidently after handover.

Requirements - Several years building production backend services at scale. - Strong experience with Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python for API development. - Solid relational database instincts, with PostgreSQL strongly preferred. - Clear written English for asynchronous collaboration, specs, and runbooks.

Nice to have - Comfort designing auth boundaries and integrating with third-party services. - Experience with background job frameworks and operational tooling that support safe deployments and rollbacks.
